WHY IS AN INITIAL ASSESSMENT NECESSARY?

The Initial Assessment is our way of making sure that we are a good fit before we fully commit to a training plan. We want to understand your goals and what you’re experiencing so that we can be sure that when we work together that we are going to be able to help you.

We have a range of services and some dogs are suitable for all and some require extra care and attention to detail. We also understand that you will have your own preferences and expectations and we want to ensure that we get things right for you.

Do You Charge For An Initial Assessment?

We do charge a small fee of just $50 for an Initial Assessment. We do this for a few reasons. Firstly because you will start working with a qualified trainer from the very beginning. Not just a receptionist that is there to complete administration. Inevitably during this assessment you will also be you will be receiving the outline of your training plan, establishing training goals and will learn how we will be implementing them together.

How Do We Work?

We have created our unique framework that teaches you everything you need to know to live a happy and healthy life with your dogs!

The Five Pillars of Emotional Health

ENRICHMENT

Understanding enrichment is key. It’s far more than simply giving our dogs puzzles, Kongs and Lickimats.

Our dogs’ behaviour should be seen as communication and when we think about it, they are often communicating that one of their enrichment needs is currently the priority for them. It is information for us to use to diagnose and resolve the need.

SLEEP, REST & RECOVERY

One of the most underestimated enrichment needs of our dogs and yet so essential for healthy emotional regulation is sleep, rest and recovery. Just like us, their nervous systems and bodies must be able to regulate and recover.

Without it, our dogs become erratic, agitated, unpredictable and irrational and yet not enough emphasis is put on it

HEALTHY NUTRITION & EATING PATTERNS

The right diet can aid physical health and energy levels like nothing else as well as their mental and emotional health.

Poor eating habits such as fussy eating and grazing are often symptoms of underlying mental and emotional health issues. Addressing these with simple changes can make all the difference to our dogs behaviour.

EXERCISE

Exercise is so important to our dogs well being and yet we see so many struggling with compulsive disorders and unwanted behaviours driven by their mental and emotional health being compromised each time their humans exercise them.

Exercise is important but we must ensure that it is genuinely healthy for the dog otherwise it defeats its purpose

CONNECTION & RELATIONSHIP

It’s so important that we learn to demonstrate healthy leadership to those in our care including our dogs and that we communicate effectively, set them up to succeed and build a level of trust between our dogs that they understand what we’re saying, trust us enough to listen and respond appropriately. When we do this we build a bond with our dogs that only our dogs can bring into our lives.
